TREATMENT PROGRAMS
Treatment at Wholeview Direct is individually tailored to each patient and can be modified as necessary to meet the specific needs of each person as they change and progress. In the case of a recurrence, treatment can be increased for a period of time or a patient may be referred to a higher level of care and can return once stabilized. The following are the levels of care available at Wholeview Direct.
MEDICATION INDUCTION AND MEDICATION MANAGEMENT
As part of our evidence-based treatment model, Wholeview Direct supports and encourages the use of medications in the context of addiction treatment. Each patient receives a psychiatric/addiction medication evaluation during the admission process and Wholeview Direct medical staff offer psychoeducation about addiction medications and will offer medication-assisted treatment when clinically indicated. These medications could include medications to help with addiction such as naltrexone, Suboxone, Antabuse or medications to treat anxiety, mood, sleep or other symptoms (e.g, Lexapro, Zoloft, Wellbutrin, Trazadone). Also, for patients who come to us and are already in treatment with a prescribing professional, we are happy to work collaboratively with those providers.

INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM (IOP)
This program is designed for people whose lives have been significantly affected by substance use who need to devote substantial time and effort to build skills to support their recovery. Patients attend the program three to five days per week for three hours of group therapy per day and attend one individual session per week. Peer support is provided and family or couples therapy may be added, if clinically indicated.
OUTPATIENT PROGRAM
Patients can step down to outpatient care after attending the Intensive Outpatient Program, or they may begin in this level of care if they are engaged in employment or other meaningful activity which would prevent them from attending the daytime intensive program. On average, patients begin by attending two groups and one individual session per week, and they reduce treatment over time. Patients may continue in individual therapy for a longer period of time, but the treatment is flexible and can be adjusted through discussions between the patient and clinician.
PEER SUPPORT SERVICES
Wholeview Direct has Certified Recovery Peer Advocates (CRPA’s) who provide peer support for recovery. CRPA’s draw both from personal experience with substance use, and from professional training to provide non-clinical support services. CPRAs may also help you develop effective habits and life skills for navigating recovery. Some additional services that they can provide are:
AFTERCARE
Once in stable recovery, patients are encouraged to continue to receive support and stay connected to their therapist, to peer support and to the Wholeview Direct community. In aftercare, patients attend individual sessions once per week initially and taper to once per month while they are simultaneously working with our peer supports to build their resources and support structures outside of the program. These can be in the form of mutual support groups (e.g., SMART Recovery, Recovery Dharma/Refuge Recovery, Alcoholics/Narcotics Anonymous), athletic teams (e.g., running, volleyball or softball leagues), participation in hobbies (e.g., book groups, board game meetups, genealogy research groups), religious organizations or any other activities that are interesting and exciting!
OPIOID OVERDOSE PREVENTION PROGRAM (OOPP)
Opioid overdose prevention training and Narcan kits are available free of charge to Wholeview Direct patients and their family members. We are committed to ensuring that any patient who may have exposure to opioids has a way to reverse an overdose if one were to occur.
DWI SCREENING AND ASSESSMENT
Several Wholeview Direct clinicians are OASAS approved providers of clinical screening and assessment services for the NYS Impaired Driving Offender program. If you have been charged with or convicted of an impaired driving offense (DWI or DUI) and require screening or assessment services, call 866.520.3568 to get further information about our program or to schedule an appointment.
