Motivational Interviewing is a brief intervention designed to mobilize a patient’s internal resources for change by enhancing intrinsic motivation. It aims to reduce ambivalence about a significant change, increase self-efficacy to make the change, and thereby, increase the commitment to make the change. MI is both a set of techniques as well as a style or way of being with a patient, which helps them to resolve ambivalence and find within themselves the resources for change. MI is a great resource for the clinician working with patients seeking to make behavior changes.
In this higher-level Motivational Interviewing course, participants conduct MI sessions with Standardized Patients (SPs) and individual feedback is provided.
Introduction to Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) is a comprehensive, public health approach to the delivery of early intervention and treatment services for patients with alcohol and substance use disorders and for those who are at risk of developing these disorders.
The Wholeview Wellness® team is passionate about preventing overdose and our program is a NYS registered Opioid Overdose Prevention Program (OOPP). In partnership with NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) we can provide Opioid Overdose Prevention Training in the community and can distribute naloxone kits free of charge. We also provide overdose prevention training and naloxone to our patients and their families when appropriate.
Advanced SBIRT trainings incorporate Standardized Patients (SPs) and participants practice key skills for screening, determining recommended level of care and making appropriate referrals to treatment using motivational techniques to enhance likelihood of patient follow through on the referral.
