PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONER
Hrafn Óli Siggurdson completed a MS degree as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Health, a post-masters certificate in Nursing Education (1991), and a PhD (1999) at Adelphi University, Garden City, NY. He completed an Advanced Graduate Certificate as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner from Hunter College (2011). He has additionally completed post-graduate training in psychoanalytic individual psychotherapy (2008), group therapy (2014), and supervision (2023) from the Training Institute for Mental Health; rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) (2012) from the Albert Ellis Institute; and integrative harm reduction psychotherapy (2018) with Dr. Andrew Tatarsky at the Center for Optimal Living. He has also studied CRAFT and IFS therapies.
Hrafn Óli has been contributing to workforce development along with clinical work since graduating from nursing school. He worked for 25 years at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as a staff nurse, team leader, and nursing professional development specialist. Since 2018 he has worked as a medical provider at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center on the Consultation for Addiction Treatment and Care in Hospitals (CATCH) team. He had a part-time private practice in psychotherapy and as a Nurse Practitioner for 11 years and is an Assistant Professor of Nursing in Clinical Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine.
