Evin Lawson is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She graduated from New York University Silver School of Social Work and has established a career in helping individuals and their families understand addiction through mindfulness and self-compassion. Evin has worked with individuals with addiction and co-occurring mental health diagnoses for the last 15 years. Understanding the mechanisms underlying substance use has led her to incorporate strategies to enhance resilience and encourage growth at various stages of recovery.
Through her eclectic approach, she addresses the individual’s relationship with the substance by implementing practices including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Evin believes that change happens when people draw on their own experiences and cultivate their strengths to learn how to become comfortable with themselves.
