Ariana Dichiara


Dr. Dichiara is a licensed clinical psychologist with a dual doctorate in school and clinical psychology. She specializes in evidence-based therapies that address trauma, comorbid mental and physical health conditions, and substance use. Dr. Dichiara received a master’s in clinical psychology from Columbia University and an additional masters and her doctoral degree at Kean University. She completed her predoctoral internship at Hudson Valley VA Healthcare System, where she worked in the residential PTSD program, the Primary Care-Mental Health Integration program, the outpatient DBT program and the Acute Psychiatry unit. Dr. Dichiara did her postdoctoral fellowship at the James J. Peters VA’s Mental Illness Research Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC)/National Center on Homelessness Among Veterans (NCHAV).

During her time at these sites, Dr. Dichiara gained experience working with clients with a range of needs and received specialized training in working with those who have had traumatic experiences. She has considerable experience working with a broad range of treatment modalities such as ACT, DBT, CPT, CBT, MBT, as well as other evidence-based practices, especially as they relate to the treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance misuse conditions. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Dichiara engages in research which aims to better understand and improve client outcomes in treatment through an understanding of factors that impact client trajectories; barriers to treatment; developing novel psychotherapeutic treatment interventions; and public health interventions for mental health conditions.
