Amy Trachter, PSY.D., PH.D.

Dr. Amy Trachter, Psy.D., Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience working with both adolescents and adults struggling with a variety of psychological disorders including substance use issues, relationship, and marital problems, learning disabilities, and eating and weight difficulties.

Dr. Trachter spent the early part of her career in academics at the Miller School of Medicine University of Miami, working with people with comorbid medical, substance use disorders, and trauma, and has published multiple professional works on these topics. Throughout her career, she has had a dual focus on physical and mental health treating patients with many acute and chronic medical disorders including Crohn’s Disease, inflammatory bowel disease, hepatitis, cancer, cardiac and liver disease including those on the waiting list for transplantation and people living with HIV/AIDS. She also has extensive expertise in treating dementia, traumatic brain injury, CVA/Stroke, and other cognitive difficulties. She also treats patients struggling with trauma through Prolonged Exposure (PE).

Dr. Trachter was a special education teacher before becoming a psychologist. She cares deeply about the needs of those she treats. She has a particular interest in working with families to improve interpersonal relationships and communication skills. She has conducted numerous psychoeducational evaluations for both children and adolescents, working closely with both schools and parents, and is a strong advocate for those with special needs.
